Rest in Peace, Whitney Houston

To many people, Whitney Houston was highly regarded as one of the most influential voices of our generation. Her career as an American recording artist, an actress, producer, and model has brought her much fame and fandom across the globe, earning two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards, amongst her grand total of 415 career awards for her outstanding performance.

Unfortunately, all good things eventually come to an end, and on the 11th of February, 2012, Houston was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel room. Celebrity gossip and entertainment news website TMZ has reported that Houston, who was found to the shock of her aunt, Mary Jones, in the hotel room bath tub, had allegedly died from a combination of Xanax, prescription drugs, and alchohol.

Houston’s death, just a night before the 54th Grammy Awards has startled many artists, with many paying respects to her through musical tribute. The most notable tribute at the Grammy Awards was performed live by Jennifer Hudson, who sang one of Houston’s biggest hits, I Will Always Love You. The Herald Sun says that Hudson, along with other artists, struggled to hold back their tears over the tribute to the deceased star.

For her fans, the tragic loss of Whitney Houston will definitely be difficult to bear. Her influential style of music throughout her thirty five years of musical artistry played a major role in the bringing of age of many people. Her biggest hits such as How Will I Know and Where Do Broken Hearts Go will forever be remembered as one of the music industry’s most classic hits. Rest in peace, Whitney Houston, and we will always love you.
